Talk about the GPS receiver’s accuracy of information provided.

What are Multi Caches?
These geocaches involve two or more locations, with the final location being a physical container with a logbook inside. There are many variations, but typically once you’re at the first stage, you will receive a clue to the whereabouts of the second stage. The second stage will have a clue for the third, and so on.

GPS receiver’s accuracy
GPS satellites broadcast their signals in space with a certain accuracy, but what you receive depends on additional factors, including satellite geometry, signal blockage, atmospheric conditions, and receiver design features/quality. For example, GPS-enabled smartphones are typically accurate to within a 4.9 m (16 ft.)
If you are using a standard GPS the scout will try to use them as a compass, it must be explained that the GPS is working out your direction to the cache as you go by comparing where you were to where you are, waving it about will not work, walk out a little way and back in again to get it to point to the geocache again.
